"I am deciding to do a 2-dimensional project on paper rather than a plaster mask. I am drawing a forearm and hand in black-and-white with a small section of veins on the wrist in color. I will use pencil and charcoal for the black-and-white, and I will most likely use watercolor for the colored parts. I will be using expression in this project. I am using expression by showing things I relate to and/or are connected to in my project, (example: I am putting a doe in the background as I love deer and find them to fit my personality) and I am expressing my personal ideas about identity through this project. This is to represent how identity can be represented by who you physically are."
Landon Miller - "When I was younger I grew up watching Star Wars. I loved these movies more than anything. I would like to take several of the symbols from the movies like the Jedi Order symbol or the Imperial symbol. I want to take several of them and put one in the middle and have them surrounding it. I then would like to have each symbol a different color and what was used to make it.... Like one could paint, another colored pencil, or another like charcoal. I would like to take wet into wet for one of the symbols specifically the the Jedi Order symbol. I would also like to use impasto for the Imperial symbol. My artistic strategy is Expression because I'm expressing my childhood from the symbols of my childhood movies, Star Wars. For the Radial design I want my entire cardboard to be a circle. Instead of having multiple designs I just want to use four of them all almost touching each other. "
Rebecca Klotzboch - "In my project I have decided to use a volleyball image, swirly lines to show that I like to go with the flow, I also have a tree which shows that I like nature, and I have a sun to show that I like the summer time and when it's sunny. Some artistic strategies I have are expression because I am drawing what I like to do and some of my favorite things, also I am going to use cultural blending with my mandala in many different areas with using an eye because our school is one of the best schools in Iowa. For media techniques I am going to use under painting on the flower part of my mandala."
Mercedes Christopher - "I started to draw a cross because in my life I go to church and sunday school ect. Church is a big part of my life. I want to add cultural blending, also I want to use scumbling. I'm not yet sure what I want to do to fill in my cross with. I want to put on the outside some circles and use culural blending to fill them in with. My media techniques i want to use acrylic to fill in the other circles."
